Rev. Herbert Brisbon, III

Rev,. Herbert Brisbon

Rev. Herbert Alexander Brisbon, III is a native of Bishopville, SC, and the product of the Lee County Public School System. He earned his Master of Divinity and Theological Studies from Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, DC; Bachelor of Religion/ Social Work from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA, and his Associates in Science from Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, SC.

While attending Spartanburg Methodist College, Herbert answered his call to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the last, the least, the lost and the different.  He is convinced God called him with a 2 Chronicles 29:11 calling: "My sons, do not be negligent now, for the Lord has chosen you to stand before him and serve him, to minister before him and to burn incense."  Rev. Brisbon has served on several boards and committees helping to advocate for the rights of Young People in the global church on many levels.  He has served on the General Board of Higher Education, Summit for Young Clergy and the Shared Mission Focus on Young People.  He has also served as the Chair of the National Steering Committee and a member of the National United Methodist Student Movement. He has been involved in a number of ministries such as Young Life Metro Atlanta, Young Life Urban Spartanburg, Boyhood to Manhood and Sister's Too and Windy Gap. As a part of the Asia 2000 Mission Tour, he served as a missionary in Mainland China, and Mongolia. In 2004/5, he also provided servant hands as a missionary in South Africa and Zimbabwe.  He served as the Executive Director of the Wesley Foundation and Chaplain for the United Methodist Church at The Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel at Howard.

Rev. Brisbon has two lifelong mottos in which he governs himself accordingly. First, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"; second, "Empowered to serve God's Kingdom, by any means necessary, that Glorifies God without compromise."
